COMPLETION – March 2015

Fytogreen was engaged to create a green decorative element designed to soften the industrial look of the atrium entrance in the Aged Care facility at Vermont South.

Fytogreen used a series of molded planter boxes, planted with Epipremnum Aureum, to climb both the 4 level glass elevator towers in the entrance of the building.  The boxes are mounted on a supporting frame and all individually plumbed with their own water source and drainage.

Epipremnum Aureum are a lower light tolerant species, which were specially selected so they can be sustained by the natural Light levels from the front entrance windows.

COMPLETION  – September 2015

Completing works on the new South East Water headquarter building, Fytogreen installed the green roof on Level W1, the full shade eastern garden on the ground floor, and the tiered entrance garden which follows the building’s escalator up 4 levels which contains trees up to 5m high at planting time.

Due to all areas being in a complete rain shadow, Fytogreen refined a suitable species list for the roof gardens. This rain shadow aspect meant that the irrigation design had to be very robust and supported by a flow rate monitored alarm system.

With the gardens all under the roof line, standard cranes could not be used for moving material easily to the respective areas. This required material to be placed where possible by Franna crane horizontally and the bulk of the material was blown in by We-Blow.

Fytogreen supplied and installed 13 green facade planter boxes on outside elevated positions. Using a single species, Tracheospernum Jasminoidies, the planters were pre-grown for 5 months at Fytogreen and trained to a height of approx 1.5 mtrs. Onsite, the facades were lifted into position, plumbed, then trailed once the louvre and wire rigging was installed.

Fytogreen also installed 2 external lower planters and 3 internal planters, which were planted on site, then trailed onto the wire rigging and decorative white rock was used as a mulch. All planters are on automatic irrigation with the internal planters being on a separate zoning.
