Set at the entrance of a new pavilion built at TH King Reserve in Glen Iris. This multi use pavilion includes a small roof garden and also a Florafelt by Fytogreen living wall covering the amenity annex and screens off the service area.

This small extensive roof garden has a profile of 160mm with a plant design incorporating native species only.

The effect is to soften the other wise hard surface of the roof and reduce the rain water run off. The garden extends the reserve parkland area onto the building.

Both the living wall and green roof are irrigated by rainfall collected from the building roof and stored in a nearby rainwater tank.

Fytogreen designed and installed this Florafelt greenwall system to screen an outdoor shower area. The shaded space originally had a painted rendered wall with a small garden bed below it and the client asked for a vista that enhanced the view from the dinning room.

Fytogreen’s design team came up with a greenwall that has 108 plants made up of 9 species to cover the space and eventually stretch up to cover the full height of the host wall.  Using this range of plants, Fytogreen installed the Florafelt greenwall system and managed to create a vista that changes as the seasons change.

Fytogreen also quickly trained the clients on how to simply maintain the system and keep the plants thriving for their natural life span.  This greenwall has now become a regular talking point with the clients and their dinner guests and they are also enjoying their new found skills of managing their own greenwall.

Adorning the back of a pavilion at the car entrance of the tennis club, this greenwall turns a stark access area into a fresh greenspace.

Facing a westerly aspect, this wall receives afternoon sun. Fytogreen used 15 species and 288 plants in a range of colours and leaf shapes, ensuring that a variety of looks can be seen with every season.

Additional benefits to the area are a reduction of reflected heat and echo for the parking area and back of the neighboring childcare center, while also providing a beautiful garden aesthetic in what was a bland standard brick wall.

The Florafelt by Fytogreen greenwall system covers 12m2 and uses 24 x F12 pre grown panels.

COMPLETION  – September 2015

Completing works on the new South East Water headquarter building, Fytogreen installed the green roof on Level W1, the full shade eastern garden on the ground floor, and the tiered entrance garden which follows the building’s escalator up 4 levels which contains trees up to 5m high at planting time.

Due to all areas being in a complete rain shadow, Fytogreen refined a suitable species list for the roof gardens. This rain shadow aspect meant that the irrigation design had to be very robust and supported by a flow rate monitored alarm system.

With the gardens all under the roof line, standard cranes could not be used for moving material easily to the respective areas. This required material to be placed where possible by Franna crane horizontally and the bulk of the material was blown in by We-Blow.
