Fytogreen’s balustrade certified planters enable healthy growth in exposed live edge conditions, creating a vibrant green layer across the new domestic car park. Working alongside ADCO Constructions, Architectus and Urbis, Fytogreen designed, fabricated and supplied a custom aluminium balustrade planter system to help deliver the elevated green façade for Brisbane Airport’s multi‑level car park.

The project required a planter solution that could integrate seamlessly with the balustrade design while supporting planting across the façade. Fytogreen supplied 155 aluminium balustrade planters—each 1200mm x 500mm with a 600mm planting depth and a 400mm void channel—providing approximately 93 m² of planted area. Manufactured from 4 mm aluminium and finished in the specified Interpon colour, each unit includes integrated brackets and stainless‑steel fixings to ensure secure slab connection and long‑term performance. All planters are supported by Fytogreen’s industry‑leading warranty on materials and finishes, reflecting our commitment to durable, engineered green infrastructure.

Despite the demanding environment of an elevated coastal car park—characterised by strong winds, shifting shade and increased heat—the planter system provides stable rooting volumes and effective drainage, allowing the planting to establish well and deliver a consistent green edge to the structure. The result is a resilient, low‑maintenance façade that enhances the airport arrival experience and supports Brisbane Airport Corporation’s broader sustainability ambitions.
