Fytogreen supplied and installed 51.77m² of custom aluminium balcony and suspended façade planter boxes for Fareham Apartments, an 18-level residential development in St Kilda. Working directly for Markscon Pty Ltd, the project forms part of a sophisticated architectural vision by Bayley Ward, with landscape design by Loci Design Collective. Designed around a central green spine, the development integrates planting throughout the building façade to strengthen residents' connection to nature and create a more liveable urban environment.

Installed across Levels 2-16, Fytogreen's custom planter systems provide the essential infrastructure supporting the project's long-term vertical greening strategy. The scope comprised slab-mounted balcony planters and suspended façade planters engineered specifically for high-rise applications. Constructed from aluminium and filled with Fytogreen's Hydrocell lightweight engineered growing media, each planter incorporates concealed drainage and a fully automated irrigation system, providing a durable and reliable foundation for sustained plant performance in exposed urban environments.

Supporting 1,589 individual plants across 38 species, the planter systems create a lush, layered green façade that softens the building's architectural form while contributing to biodiversity, visual amenity and resident wellbeing.
The photography captures the project just six months after installation, with the planting already thriving. As the plants continue to establish and mature, the façade will evolve into a striking, richly layered vertical landscape, supported by Fytogreen's ongoing specialist horticultural maintenance program.
