Set in Melbourne’s Yarra Valley, Healesville is a popular tourist spot. In late 2010 Yarra Ranges Shire Council approached Fytogreen to assist with providing a green roof on a public amenity block in the heart of town.

Working together with the councils architects and designers for the development phase, Fytogreen was engaged by the builder, ADM Structures to build the eye-catching roof garden in March 2011.

Located in Green St, just near Maroondah Hwy in central Healesville, the freshly renovated amenities block now has a distinctive greenroof with an extensive profile ranging from 100mm deep (on the edges) and upto 140mm for the remainder of the roof garden.

Using native ground covers and grasses, Fytogreen’s botanist selected a plant pallet of 7 different species including Lomandra, Correa, Dianella, Brachyscome and Dichondra. This created a small but colourful extensive greenroof with dramatic visible seasonal changes.
